A clear enquiry makes comparison easier
A cable name alone rarely defines an order. Record the requirements below so suppliers can respond to the same specification. For a formal tender, attach the relevant clauses and ask the supplier to identify any deviations rather than assuming compliance.
01. Fibre count and type
State the number of fibres and the required fibre type, such as G.652D or G.657A2. Do not use fibre count as a substitute for specifying optical characteristics.
02. Construction
Say whether you need single-tube or multitube construction, and armoured or unarmoured cable. Describe the route so the construction can be checked against the installation requirements.
03. Sheath
Specify the sheath material and colour. Nova's product information includes HDPE, LSZH and PVC options across its product families; confirm the appropriate option for the cable being ordered.
04. Length and packing
Give the total quantity and the required length per drum or pack. The site lists standard cable packing of 2 km ±10%, 4 km ±5%, and short lengths greater than 500 m. Confirm the packing applicable to your order.
05. Sheath printing
Provide the exact sheath text and sequential marking requirement. Review the wording before production rather than relying on a general instruction to print a company name.
06. Standards and tests
List the standards, specification or tender clauses and required tests. Nova's site describes OTDR attenuation and length testing on every drum with a test report shipped with the drum. Confirm all project-specific acceptance criteria separately.
07. Delivery
Give the destination and the required delivery date. Ask for the offered delivery terms and confirm them before placing the order.
Review the offer against the enquiry
Check each of the seven items against the supplier's offer. Resolve missing values and exceptions before ordering. A quick enquiry is useful for starting a conversation; the detailed RFQ is the place to send a complete specification.
